I spent about ten days in Japan and four days in Hong Kong, and did a decent amount of cosmetics shopping. Most of the makeup listed below came from local drugstores. Actually, I think I only bought one item from a department store, and will definitely be buying more the next time I travel!
JAPAN HAUL:
I have heard so many rave reviews about the DHC Cleansing Oil, and I thought it was about time I buy myself one to try out. There was a special deal going on when I bought these, and it cost me a total of about 40,000 yen, about $40 US Dollars for both. (By the way, please ignore the dents of some of the packaging. My luggage was a bit overfilled with clothes, etc ^_^) Each bottle has 200mL of product. so excited for this!
The next item is a little random, but I have been DYING to try out the Japanese cotton swabs. The ones in America tend to be very cheap and the cotton tips unwind and make a mess. On the other hand, Japanese cotton swabs are known to have durable cotton tips that can even serve as eye shadow brushes when you don't have any at hand. These were almost 200 yen, about $2 US.
I could not go to Japan and NOT buy lashes! I have never seen this brand before, so I ended up buying a couple packs of these. However, I gave the others away to friends. These were about 800 yen, or $8 US. (I'm sure you all know this, but some of the best Japanese lashes out there are the Dolly Wink ones! You can get them for a reasonable price at sasa.com)
I found this products very intriguing. A Bb product for your lips? Oh yes! It was SPF 21 and is produced by Kanebo. There is also a more pinky shade available in stores. I don't remember the exact price, but I am guessing I purchased this for 600 yen, or $6 US.
Most of my products came from the Japanese drugstore brand, CANMAKE. The items are extremely affordable and very pigmented. These Stay on Balm Rouge lip products were 550 yen each, about $5.50 US. Reminder: If you would like me to review any of the products on this post, please comment below!
This next product is a CANMAKE lip gloss. I have yet to try it, but the color was so beautiful when I swatched it on my hand. I did buy a peachier shade (and it's lovely), but again, I did give it away to a friend. These were the same price as the balms above, 550 yen, or $5.50 US.
Okay, I do not remember the exact price for this, but I think it was about $6 US. It is the Canmake Cream Cheek, a very hot item in the cosmetics world. It is basically a cream blush, but you can also use it as a lip color. I bought this in the shade CL05, which is a lovely, bright hot pink. I can't wait to try it out!
While in Japan, I noticed that most of the eye shadows (or all) were shimmery shades. Many women wore these colorful, shimmery shades on their lids with bright pink cheeks and glossy lips with dewy skin. I absolutely loved the fashion style and everyday makeup look in Japan, and will try to incorporate that look into my daily routine. There are multiple CANMAKE trios, but I chose this one for its yellowy, champagne color, a light aqua blue, and its minty green shade. Absolutely ecstatic to use this! The product was 550 yen, or $5.50 US.
I have not heard too much about CANMAKE's UV Powder Foundation, but when I swatched it in stores, I could tell it was very pigmented. You can buy the foundation separate from the case. I think foundation alone was 1000 yen while with the case (it came together) it was 1900 yen. A bit pricy for a drugstore product in my opinion, but I have been on the look out for a new powder foundation and thought I would give this a shot.
This is another CANMAKE eyeshadow set, but this time, it is a quad. The price was 750 yen and the colors are VERY pigmented. They are not the smoothest shadows I have ever swatched, but beautiful nonetheless. Very eager to try them!
I haven't heard much about this next brand, Visee, but I've been on the lookout for some reddish eye shadows because I have been dyIng to try out a cherry smoky eye. I have yet to get my hands on the Smashbox palette, but this will do for now! When I swatched these eye shadows in store, they were so smooth and the colors are gorgeous! I regret not buying the whole collection of these! The price is also quite reasonable, about 1200 yen, or $12 US.
I think anyone into Japanese cosmetics knows of this brand, Majolica Majorca. (Sorry about all this bad lighting btw. Still on the lookout for a good ligth source!) Their Jewel Eyes palettes are very pigmented, smooth, and the colors are so cute! I picked these two up for about 1500 yen a pop, and will definitely be purchasing more at my next visit to Asia!
Okay, and lastly for my Japan haul (makeup wise, that is), I bought a Kate eye shadow quad. Now I have been hearing many rave things about the Kate eye shadows and overall cosmetics lately, and I must say, the colors are beautiful! In addition to being very pigmented, the shadows glide on smoothly. Like all the other eye shadows I purchased during my trip, they are quite shimmery, but still very pretty and maybe even a bit natural. Definitely recommend! (I think this was maybe 1550 yen)
HONG KONG HAUL (not as much sorry):
I found this at a sasa near the place I was staying, and AHHHHH!!! I must admit that i bought this specifically for Kim Soohyun (guilty pleasures hehe). These three came in a set along with a bag and Kim Soohyun pins. It also came in a box, but I was not able to take it home because... well... luggage. I bought it at quite a reasonable price though! It was about $35 US, coming with a full size Melting Cream (makeup remover) and a full size set of masks with a trail size skin care kit. Overall super excited to try this!
I have been eyeing Paul and Joe products for a while, since I absolutely adored the packaging and the colors were stunning on the internet. When In Hong Kong, I finally decided, "I must buy something!" Paul and Joe is a higher end brand, this lipstick being a total of $30 US since the lipstick itself is $20 US and the package it comes in (You get to choose the package. There is a decent selection that varies per season.) is $10. One of the kind women at the counter allowed me to try this, and I fell in love! The Paul and Joe blushes are also very lovely, but I have yet to get my hands on them.
Now this is such a hot item in Asia right now, the Innisfree No-Seubum Mineral Powder. It is a very popular product for setting makeup and controlling oils in your skin. I have not tried this yet, but I am definitely excited! Not so sure about the price anymore though. =___= Sorry! But I thik it was about $7 US.
And lastly, the Innisfree Gel Liners. I bought these two for under eye brightening, one being a bright pink, shimmery shade and the other a bright gold. I swatched them at an Innisfree store and once they set, they do not budge! Even after the sweltering heat and taking a shower, these eyeliners did not fully come off. I can not wait to try them! Each was about $7 as well.
